Memba Group Business Accelerator Tiphushe Project aims to Build Business Systems and Entrepreneurs with long-lasting impact towards realization of Malawi Vision 2063, African Union (AU) Agenda 2063 and United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
According to the United Nations (UN), Malawi is classified as a Least Developed Country (LDC) which introduces unique challenges for the nation and its communities. These challenges include; high rates of unemployment and underemployment, widespread poverty and economic difficulties, limited access to education and skill development, prevalent issues like teen pregnancies and early marriages, disparities between rural and urban areas, and the adverse effects of climate change.
Youth unemployment poses a significant challenge in Malawi, with far-reaching consequences for individuals, communities, and the nation as a whole. Some of the notable consequences are reduced economic activities, loss of productivity, mental health issues, strain on social services, social unrest and increased crime rates. According to the World Bank, Malawi’s economic situation remains challenging with nearly three-quarters of the population living in extreme poverty. The country's Real GDP is projected to grow only 1.8 percent in 2024, and an acceleration is expected in 2025 if reforms implementation progresses.
Against these challenges, Memba Group is committed to its Tiphuse project, an entrepreneurship initiative that aims to build business systems and entrepreneurs with a long-lasting impact through comprehensive business mentorship, consultation, and networking programs in line with Malawi Vision 2063, African Union (AU) Agenda 2063, and United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals 8, 1, and 4. Through this project, we aim to promote entrepreneurship, job creation and economic growth resulting in poverty reduction, economic empowerment and enhancing knowledge and for entrepreneurship and business management. Through the project we aim to empower over 1,000 beneficiaries including youths, women and minority groups by 2025.
