Kaselema Village is one of the villages under T/A Mwambo.T/A Mwambo has a population of 151,997 with 64,778 children between 5 and 18 years old (NSO, 2018). After T/A Chikowi, T/A Mwambo also has the highest population density in Zomba rural. Namatapa primary school is in Kaselema Village and accommodates 1,200 learners from surrounding communities.

A six months’ project that targets 100 vulnerable learners to ensure their inclusion in quality education Namatapa FP School was realized to be one of the education facilities in Zomba rural that was heavily affected by ripple effects of tropical Cyclone Idai and The Tropical Cyclone Chalane. The impacts of harsh climate rendered a classroom block unsafe to use and also damages to households within the community. Classes are conducted under trees due to overcrowding of learners in other classroom blocks, and in cases where there are harsh rains, classes are disrupted indefinitely. The education structure has been in a dire state as communities and the school management committee do not have the needed resources needed for such a renovation project. There has been initiative by school committee and local leaders to produce bricks for construction, but challenges still persist in resourcing.
The project idea entails mobilizing resources in order to refurbish a classroom block at Namatapa Primary school. This will involve renovating the floor and roofing of the building block. The community, through local initiative started construction to window level, what remains is finishing touches in order to create more safe and conducive learning space at the school. The project idea is grounded to cement sustainability of the original project, promoting inclusive education for learners with diverse needs.
Activities include renovation of classroom block and providing learning materials. For renovation of the classroom block to be completed within the project time frame, the following consist of the project activities in detail; 1. Plastering of classroom 2. Flooring and cementing 3. Sketching 4. Pointing 5. Roofing 6. Liming 7. Painting 8. Beam filling 9. Window fitting 10. Door fixing 11. Glass fitting 12. Fitting of classroom desks 13. Fitting of black board The above listed major activities make up the project that aims to promote child friendly learning at Namatapa FP school. The majority of the expenditure will be towards logistics costs and materials and supplies in the form of construction inputs. Inputs for construction such as materials and labour/personnel costs for local contractors, purchasing learning materials (i. e. desks)
